Hey guys! Today I’m going to be discussing a question that has many possible answers: Are audiobooks considered “real reading?”
I’m going to be exploring the pros and cons of this topic and if you’d like to get in on this discussion feel free to comment below and we can get a conversation going!!
Pros:
You can listen to audiobooks anytime you want (ex: driving, cleaning, etc.) and you can get through a lot of books this way.
Audiobooks don’t take up room because it’s all on your phone or computer.
You don’t need a light if you want to read in the dark.
Narrators make books fun and interesting, they add an extra something to the story (unless the narrator sucks).
You’re still retaining the same amount of knowledge because the information is the same as if you read the book with your eyes.
It’s good for the environment because there’s no paper involved.
Cons:
You’re depending on a device and it could easily die or break… physical books never break!!
Sometimes I forget to pay attention when I’m reading so I just reread the page but with audiobooks it’s trickier to go back.
Audiobook sites like Audible are a monthly charge on top of the book charge so it can get kind of expensive.
Sometimes I zone out during them and it kind of annoys me LOL.
If you like collecting books you can’t have nice, full bookshelves when you listen to audiobooks.
Personally I don’t listen to audiobooks too frequently but I have nothing against them. I consider it “real reading” and I wish I listened to more because of how quick and efficient they are!!
Andddd that’s it for today’s post! If you have any other pros or cons be sure to leave them in the comments below and we can have a discussion:) Also while you’re down there you can subscribe to my blog to keep up to date with my posts!!
