4 out of 5 stars

Summary: This story follows Sydney, a college student who just found out her boyfriend has been cheating on her. And a boy named Ridge, a guitar player who lives across from her apartment building. They begin to form a relationship through texting and writing songs together. And when Sydney finds out about her cheating boyfriend she moves in with Ridge. There is something about Ridge that Sydeny cannot help but be intrigued by and there is something about Sydney that Ridge just cannot get off his mind.
Opinions: I am reminded of how much I love Colleen Hoover’s books every single time I pick one up to read. I forget sometimes how much I fall in love with her plots, characters, and overall writing until I begin another one of her books. The way her books make me feel and react are unlike any other. I cried so much while reading this book and I couldn’t help but want happiness for each and every character.
From the first sentence of this book I couldn’t put it down:
“I just punched a girl in the face. Not just any girl. My best friend. My roommate.”
I fell in love with Ridge and Sydney’s chemistry from the moment they met on their separate balconies and then when they began to text. Their relationship was so raw and they fit together so perfectly.
I loved Warren, he was a jerk at some points but ultimately cared about the wellbeing of everyone.
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about an honest and passionate relationship. It takes a while to see the relationships full potential but I promise you that it is worth the wait!
Ridge and Sydney write songs in the story and there is a whole album someone made with the lyrics from the book. The album is called “Maybe Someday.” So if you read the book I recommend you check out the songs because it brings a whole new perspective to the book and makes the story feel so real.
Spoilers: My only issue with this book in general that kept me from giving it 5 stars is how wrong the relationship between Sydney and Ridge have because Ridge is in a relationship with another woman. It blows my mind how Ridge claims to be soul mates with both women, and while that could be true, you do not do that to someone you supposedly love. You don’t hurt someone you have been madly in love with for 5 years for a girl you just met 2 months ago.
As much as I love Sydney and I love Sydney and Ridge together, I believe Ridge should have broken it off with Maggie as soon as they kissed. Especially since in the song he wrote he said “I would bend for her but I would break for you.” (Or something along those lines) Everything he was doing pointed directly towards the fact he should have ended it with Maggie.
All of those issues aside I really did love the ending. The way Ridge waited for her to come around proved that she was special to him and whenever he verbally spoke to her I started crying.
Let me know what you thought of MAYBE SOMEDAY in the comments below! Have you read any other books by Colleen Hoover? What did you think about Ridge and Sydney’s relationship?
