There will be spoilers for the first two books in the series! (THE CRUEL PRINCE & THE WICKED KING)
Summary: QUEEN OF NOTHING by Holly Black is the final book in the The Folk of the Air trilogy. After Jude is exiled to the mortal world by Cardan she doesn't know what to do with herself. One day her twin sister, Taryn, comes to ask Jude for a favor. Jude must return to the faerie world pretending to be her sister, which means she has to face Cardan and the faerie world once more.
Opinions (No spoilers): Oh my god. This book was amazing. I enjoyed every second of it and was not bored at any point while reading. My baby Cardan killed it during the whole book and Jude was never not kicking ass. I fell more in love with both of them and I don’t even know how that is physically possible!
Holly Black’s writing was amazing, as per usual, and there were so many things I didn’t expect. I don’t know how she came up with some of the concepts in this book and I am royally impressed with the places this book went. I didn’t want this book to end but I couldn’t stop reading it.
Holly Black wrote Madoc’s characters so perfectly where you just love to hate him. I loved Oak with my whole heart and will protect him at all costs!
Overall, I think this was a perfect ending to an amazing series and it’s bittersweet that it’s come to an end.
Spoiler thoughts: I loved Cardan and Jude’s relationship. I love that we see Cardan fall in love with Jude during all three books and the way he cares about her actually made me cry at points.
I loved the Bomb and the Roach so much and I love that we finally got to see them together at the end of the series. And I could tell the Ghost was interested in Taryn which is also very exciting. I like that Holly Black didn’t focus on their relationship, it was just hinted at every once in a while.
When Cardan turned into a snake I was a little mad because all I wanted was for him to be alive but I applaud Holly black for doing that.
The ending was so satisfying it made me so happy to see so many loose ends being tied together! I loved seeing Cardan in the mortal world. The fact that he tries new things for Jude makes me more emotional than it should.
