Reader Problems Book Tag

- YOU HAVE 20.000 BOOKS IN YOUR TBR. HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT TO READ NEXT?Honestly, I pick up whatever book I’m in the mood for. If I’m in the mood for a fantasy I’ll pick up a book generally in that genre. I have a million books on my TBR but this system helps to stay out of awful reading slumps!

- YOU’RE HALFWAY THROUGH A BOOK AND JUST NOT LOVING IT – DO YOU PUT IT DOWN OR ARE YOU COMMITTED? I usually put down a book I don’t enjoy because life’s too short to read bad books. If I force myself to finish a book I would probably fall into a deep slump and stop reading all together and that’s not ideal so if I dislike a book I put it down, unless it’s entertaining.

- THE END OF THE YEAR IS COMING AND YOU’RE BEHIND ON YOUR READING CHALLENGE. DO YOU TRY TO CATCH UP? AND IF SO, HOW? I am ALWAYS behind on my reading challenges and it doesn’t really phase me. Reading goals work for some people but for me it just feels like I’m forcing myself to do something that I already enjoy doing, so what’s the point? I’m really curious if anyone reading this follows reading challenges religiously.

- THE COVERS OF A SERIES YOU LOVE DO NOT MATCH. HOW DO YOU COPE? It’s very hard for me to own books in a series that don’t match. I will go out of my way to buy the covers that match and if I don’t have all matching covers I will give those books away and buy the correct covers because I take pride in my beautiful bookshelves.

- EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER LOVES A BOOK THAT YOU DO NOT. WHO DO YOU BOND WITH OVER YOUR SHARED FEELINGS? If I don’t enjoy a book chances are there is someone on the internet with the same opinions as me. I am usually very easy when it comes to rating books so if I don’t like a book it means it probably wasn’t very good.

- YOU’RE READING A BOOK IN PUBLIC AND YOU’RE ABOUT TO START CRYING. HOW DO YOU DEAL? It’s definitely happened before where I’ve cried over a book in public. I’ve been sitting in class and something heartbreaking would happen and I would start tearing up. I am usually very good at concealing it so I’ve never had an issue with trying to cover it up. But if I ever did start bawling my eyes out I would just own up to it.

- THE SEQUEL TO A BOOK YOU LOVED JUST CAME OUT, BUT YOU’VE FORGOTTEN A LOT OF WHAT HAPPENS. ARE YOU GOING TO REREAD IT? It depends on how much I forgot from the first book. If I don’t remember anything I will reread the first book. But usually I will just jump into the second book and try and remember everything from the first book. Or I will look up reviews on it and let them remind me of what I forgot.

- YOU DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO BORROW YOUR BOOKS. HOW DO YOU POLITELY SAY NO WHEN SOMEONE ASKS? None of my friends would ask to borrow my books because either they don’t read AT ALL or they read a lot and will just buy a copy of the book they want. If I was put in a situation where someone asked to borrow one of my precious books I would straight up say “I really love this book so you can borrow it but PLEASE take good care of it or else you’re buying me a new copy.” I am usually very open to sharing my love for reading so if someone wants to read one of my books I’ll let them.

- YOU HAVE PICKED UP AND PUT DOWN 5 BOOKS IN THE LAST MONTH. HOW DO YOU GET OVER THIS READING SLUMP? If a reading slump is really bad I’ll usually give in and watch Netflix or YouTube. Sometimes I’ll watch BookTube to put me back in the reading mood. When I watch others talking about their love for books, it reminds me of my passion for reading and it pulls me out of my slump.

- THERE ARE SO MANY BOOKS COMING OUT THAT YOU ARE DYING TO READ, HOW MANY DO YOU END UP BUYING? If there are a lot of new releases I will buy them all and I won’t regret it. If I take a trip to Barnes and Noble and see a bunch of new released books I’m excited for chances are they are all coming home with me. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call a book buying problem.

- AFTER YOU PURCHASE ALL OF THESE BOOKS YOU’RE DYING TO READ, HOW LONG DO THEY SIT ON YOUR SHELVES BEFORE YOU GET TO THEM? It depends. If I’m really excited about them I’ll end up reading them really fast. But sometimes I won’t be in the mood for some of them and they won’t be picked up for a long time.
